Springfield Community Theatre
Founded in 1981, Springfield Community Theatre is one of Minnesota’s oldest and continuously operating theatre groups. It is both a producing and sponsoring non-profit (501c3) organization whose staged productions such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and Disney’s The Little Mermaid have involved thousands of performers, technicians, musicians, and audience members from the Springfield community and surrounding area. The group has also sponsored performing groups such as St. Peter Choral Society, MN “Over 60” Band, vocal musician Stacy K, 7th Avenue, Southwest MN Men’s Chorus, Gospel Express, and the acapella group Home Free, the winner of NBC’s 2013 season of The Sing-Off. Finally, the SCT annually sponsors a week-long children’s theatre residency that involves students as performers. The generous gifts from our existing “Friends of the Theatre” and our new contributors will support a robust season of invited acts and enhanced staging for future performances.
