Forever Humble
Irene Schneider was a quiet, reserved person who lived a simple, frugal life in Springfield who made it a habit to share her generosity throughout the community. Miss Schneider had a special place in her heart for the Springfield Area Community Center and provided a number of gifts over her lifetime. She contributed to the portable room partitions in 2004, paid for an irrigation system for the yard and gardens in 2005 and purchased the tall Christmas tree that decorates the corridor of the building during the holidays.
Irene wanted no public recognition of her gifts, but appreciated the “thanks” provided privately to her by members of the committee that oversees the Springfield Area Community Center. Irene’s final act of generosity following her death was a check in the amount of $42,000 that was presented to the Springfield Area Community Facilities Committee at a meeting in 2007.
